Bangalore Mountain Festival: Back on the Bike

By Piyush Chavan for BigRush

Following the recent recovery from my collar bone injury, I was eager to see where I stood and was absolutely amped to participate in the Bangalore Mountain Festival. We had been told the track was rocky and a little rough, but it came as a surprise and is one of the best I’ve raced on in southern India.
The Bangalore Mountain Festival was held on February 06-07, 2016 in the Thimmaraya Swamy Hills on the Nandi Hills Road. There were three categories in biking – trail (10kms), cross country MTB (30kms) and downhill MTB (1km).
There were many interesting line choices and places to shave off time, and Adwait Parchure and I discussed the best ones all weekend. With just five weeks after the injury, I wasn’t looking forward to pushing too much, just giving it my best.
Piyush_FacebookI came first in the qualifiers by a few milliseconds, and was hoping to start off the season in a great way. The last to go down in the finals, I was nervous but excited at the same time.
