Hero MTB Himalaya, billed among the most difficult cross country races in the world, is hosting its 12th edition this year from September 25 to October 03.
“This is tough compared to any races I have done previously.” Andl Hartmann from Rocky Mountain Factory Team has participated in few of the world’s most respected races. He is riding in a team of two with his teammate Manuel Weissenbacher at the 12th Hero MTB Himalaya.
The race kicks off from Shimla, and ends in Dharamshala, and is as rugged as you can imagine. The riders cover looped circuits of 60-70 kms each day with an equal amount of uphill and downhill segments.
MTB Himalaya takes place entirely in Himachal Pradesh, covering four districts and crossing two mighty rivers, Beas and Satluj. The path traverses through some of the best places in highest mountain range of the world including the Great Himalayan National park in Kullu, and Bir-Billing which is known to be the world’s second highest point for paragliding.
So far, 63 riders from more than 12 countries have confirmed their participation.
